To make up for it, here are some amusing happenings of late:
Two p-days ago, I walked into the mission office and Elder Taylor said, "Sister Hays! It's almost Christmas! Are you excited?" I replied, "Shut up! I'll be dead before then!" It's a good thing we've friends since the MTC... I have not yet come to terms with the fact that I have only two transfers left and will be spending Christmas with my family.
Next transfer should be hilarious. We'll be living with two American sisters in the Khmer program, Sister Cloud and Sister Hartley. The three of us are notable for not being particularly girly, so we plan on getting along really well and having tons of fun and lots of laughs. We're already talking about meals together. I asked Sister Cloud if Sister Hartley would each pretty much anything. Sister Cloud answered, "Imagine Sister Hartley as a trash compactor. If it can be eaten, she'll eat it."
Missionaries in Cambodia teach English classes on Wednesday evening. Last week, we had a monk come, so there we were standing in the South District Center with a monk in his bright orange garb... I wish I had a picture of that moment.
I went on an exchange last week with Chi Huong and Chi Nga in Branch 3. They have a bunk bed, and Chi Nga, who is probably the tallest sister in the whole Viet program, sleeps in the top bunk. I asked if she ever hits her head on the ceiling. She said no and sat up to show me, and in so doing she hit her head on the ceiling for the first time ever.
We have a baptism coming up this week! And there are a couple others that will hopefully work out in the next month or so.
In other news pertaining to establishing the Church, we had District Conference this weekend and Elder Gong, the Asia Area President, presided. All the talks were very good, but we are particularly excited about the idea that they may be able to organize the first two stakes in Cambodia next May. YAY!
Missionary work is awesome.
P.S. Kudos to anyone who knows what the subject line parodies...Rebecca, this one is probably for you...
